Do hair extensions damage your hair?
They can. Whether they do comes down to weight, tension and who is putting them in, not to the method on the tin.

The honest version
Extensions damage hair when the hair carrying them cannot carry them. That is it. It is not the tape, the bond or the bead that does harm, it is load. Too much weight on a fine section, or a row pulled too tight, puts steady tension on the follicle. Do that for months and you get breakage at the attachment and thinning at the hairline.
Which is why the method is chosen for you
This is the part that gets skipped. Hand-tied wefts exist for fine to medium hair precisely because the weft is ultra-thin and adds fullness without bulk. Volume wefts carry far more hair per row and are built for medium to thick hair. Putting a volume weft on fine hair is the single most common way this goes wrong. It is also why a consult that ends with "your hair will not take that one" is a good sign, not a sales failure.
What Alisa can tell you about fragile hair
Her own hair was fine and fragile. It broke and would not grow past a certain length. That is why she got extensions in the first place, and it is why she got certified. Fine hair is not a disqualification, it is a specification.
Questions to ask before you book
Ask which method they are recommending and why that one for your hair specifically. Ask what the move-up interval is and what happens if you are late. Ask whether the hair is reusable. A specialist will answer all three without hesitating. If the answer to the first is that the salon only does one method, you are being fitted to their training rather than your hair.
Common questions
Do hair extensions cause hair loss?
Poorly fitted ones can. Steady tension on the follicle over months causes breakage at the attachment and thinning at the hairline. Correct weight for the hair carrying it and a proper move-up schedule are what prevent it.
Are extensions safe for fine or fragile hair?
Yes, with the right method. Hand-tied wefts are built for fine to medium hair because the weft is ultra-thin and lies flat without adding bulk.
What is the least damaging hair extension method?
There is no single answer, because it depends on the hair carrying it. The least damaging method is the one matched to your density at consultation.
