How long do hair extensions last?
Two different clocks are running, and most answers online only mention one of them. There is how long the set stays put, and how long the hair itself lives.

The two clocks
When someone asks how long extensions last, they usually mean "how long until I have to do something about it." That is the move-up clock, and it is short: your own hair grows, the attachment travels away from the scalp, and it has to be repositioned. The second clock is the hair itself, and it is much longer. Good extension hair outlives many move-ups.
Move-up intervals, by method
Hand-tied wefts need a move-up every six to eight weeks. That is the shortest cycle, because a sewn row on a beaded foundation shows the growth quickest. Volume wefts sit on the same kind of foundation and run a similar cycle. Keratin fusion K-tip is the outlier: a set lasts months rather than weeks, because each bond is independent and there is no row line to travel.
How long the hair itself lasts

What actually shortens it
Not the method. Heat without protection, brushing from the top down instead of the ends up, sleeping on it loose, and washing with anything containing sulphates or heavy oils near the attachment. A set treated properly reaches the top of its range. A set treated badly will not, whichever method it is.
